The jewel in the crown of all Dorset wedding venues, Mapperton House and gardens.
A venue that many of us have already seen, most possibly unaware that it had featured prominently within several major Hollywood movies. Most recently the Thomas Hardy epic ‘Far from the Madding Crowd’ featuring Carey Mulligan, filmed in and around this stunning Jacobean property . The house was transformed into Hardy’s Everdene Farm.
Voted the ‘Nations finest manor house’ by Country Life Magazine. There is no property similar to this!
Amazing architecture, a serene setting of enveloping Dorset countryside, and sculpted gardens full of the best on offer in traditional landscaping, blending with the surrounding breathtaking landscape.
Documenting unique weddings at such stunning locations, propels us forward within our Internationally award winning work as a Dorset Wedding Photographer.
Mapperton House & Gardens are licensed to conduct wedding ceremonies in both the Garden Pavilion on the croquet lawn, or in the sawmill. Many couples also use the venue after nearby church services, commencing their wedding reception within the grounds.
Recent couples using the venue for their own weddings have remarked how this is ‘a real secret garden’!
Nothing quite prepares you for the first look over the breathtaking sunken landscaped gardens behind the main house. Truly remarkable and such a rich environment within which to explore and create memorable, creative wedding photography and memories.
Home to the Earl and Countess of Sandwich, who bought the place in the 1950’s, Mapperton is a glorious sandstone manor house and romantic valley garden deep in a lost Dorset combe. Set among tumbling hills and unspoiled countryside, the fifteen acres of gardens descend from the croquet lawn, through the formal topiary and pools, down to the wild garden.
If you are looking to hold your wedding within the grounds of a stunning country house, Mapperton House is the perfect venue for your English country wedding.
