Fliss & Tom’s Weymouth Wedding was a wedding with a difference. Unlike many others it started as a ‘local’ wedding but then relocated and reconvened at Stockbridge Farm, near Sherborne for the reception. It was quite a distance between the two points – about 30 minutes drive in fact!
The story is, that both Bride & groom were having trouble finding the ‘right’ reception venue, but when the viewed the Stockbridge farm barn, they just knew it was the place for them!
That decided, and timelines worked to allow for transporting all the guests, it did provide another unexpected attribute. We had such a choice of locations en route from which to choose from for our creative photography!!
I had made a few recce trips in the proceeding week and found a few real gems to try on the day. One being a sweet looking field of rapeseed and another location of Cerne Abbas, which has a great gatehouse from an ancient ransacked abbey. Unusual and very distinctive – both locations shouted out loud and proud as being good possibilities for our creative Sherborne Wedding Photography.
Come the day, both delivered – the field providing the punchy saturated colour of amassed yellow flowers and the Cerne Abbas ruin providing architectural interest and a welcome break in the day for Fliss & Tom to relax in the moment with some relaxed portraits.
It was a lovely moment when the owner of the Cerne Abbas grounds spotted us and came out to give his best wishes, tell us some of the history of the place and congratulate Fliss & Tom. Whilst we were busy soaking up the atmosphere of the location, there was the owner enthusing over the vintage Rolls Royce and the fact that a Bride & Groom had wanted to use his property for the photography.
Quite amazing that we were the first to do it, when it is such a charming place and yet another hidden gem of the Dorset countryside.
By the time we wrapped things up and joined the rest of the guest’s at Stockbridge Farm barn, we had some lovely bridal portraits in the bag.
Like many of my shoots, its often the case that my freshest work is often the current favourite. The images from this wedding will certainly provide a few new folio shots for me to proudly exhibit being strong examples of finest Sherborne Wedding Photography.

wow! That looks like an amazing reception! The sort that you have to be there for really! I adore the photos of the couple in the field as well, absolutely stunning!
Some really great creative shots of the dancing there – beautiful use of light! And I love the shot of the children playing (play fighting?!) together 🙂
