PENNSYLVANIA CASTLE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

‘The Penn’, is a gorgeous early 19th century neo-Gothic castle on the Isle of Portland just off the Dorset coast.

It has a rich and varied history, having been built by the grandson of William Penn, the founder of the US state of Pennsylvania.

It was also the setting for World leaders Winston Churchill, General de Gaulle and General Eisenhower to meet and finalise plans for World War II’s D-Day landings.

At the base of the castle property is the notorious ‘Pirates Graveyard’.  Ancient grave stones adorned with the skull and crossbones.

A distinctive private residence open for exclusive hire, it’s a Dorset wedding venue unlike no other.

Made from naturally sourced and World famous Portland stone, the layout and aesthetics of this building are astounding.  Great use of glass, providing plenty of light to the interiors rooms.  So for a castle – its a far cry away from more traditional buildings having similar prestige.

Its light and airy, having a large ceremony, banqueting room that out of wedding season converts to a stunning indoor pool area.

Being situated on the cliff side of the Jurassic coastline, the grounds are terraced and go down to meet the shore.  An abundance of background locations within which to capture definitive imagery as Penn Castle Wedding Photographers.

Landscaped gardens and terraces, with a stunning array of mature trees and exotic flora. A stunning infinity backdrop of blue sea meeting blue sky – it really has to be seen.

Having worked as a wedding photographer at Pennsylvania Castle on several occasions, each visit has left a marked impression upon me.

The location along with the resulting images I have taken, give the impression of having documented an exotic destination wedding.  Crisp light, blue skies and exotica.   The reality is, thats its just one of those unique places, closer to home – an idyllic Dorset wedding venue.
