Something a little different from the norm, saw me meeting up with a unit of the British Army’s Royal Engineers last week. They were in the area celebrating between deployments and had arranged to be guided around Portland Castle, once an important part of Henry VIII sea defences.
The guys had wanted to get a record of their visit and I gathered that a few of the guys would be retiring and moving on to different ventures. As a Dorset Photographer, this was an important picture to get and do well. Now there a few images taken that were light hearted and had a bit of messing around natuarally – they were off duty! But the main purpose was to get an official ‘formal’ styled group portrait, several formations were taken before I edited the set down to three variations. From this the Captain chose the “Official’ shot that was then layed out for the Regimental badge and names to be incorporated into the shot.
Its great to know that all these troops will have a group portrait defining a specific moment in their army life capturing great memories of their time in service. They do such a wonderful job protecting British interests at home & abroad.
