Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, I am based in Weymouth, Dorset but I am well used to traveling large distances in the course of my work. I undertake commissions throughout the UK and abroad.

I tend to center my work around reportage or documentary wedding photography, constantly seeking out definitive moments within the wedding day.  I act fast and unobtrusively to provide an accurate visual record of your wedding day without interfering with the natural flow of the day.

All my images are taken in colour with the option to reproduce in Black & White upon editing.  Some images work particularly well in Black & White rather than colour and vice versa.  I edit all my own images and perform colour corrections, cropping & conversions.  I try to improve key portraits and remove spots & harsh shadows, but cannot offer miracles with removing elements from a photograph.

Yes, I do – even though many modern couples shy away from the stiff starchiness of posed wedding photography, in my experience, after the day has come and gone, they always value posed photographs. People love to see clearly who was there to share in the joy of their day. Even though I am in my element doing the documentary stuff, the formal pictures can be arranged easily with the assistance of an usher or Best Man and then we can move on.

No – I bring my own food and do not expect, nor require you to feed me on the day. Whilst you are enjoying your wedding breakfast, I will take my own short break, without missing any key moments…

Call or email me at any point to check my availability. Once the date is confirmed, we can arrange to meet and talk through your wedding photography requirements. This can be an opportune moment to look through my latest wedding albums as well as to make some great portraits with my pre-wedding shoot / engagement shoot.

I require a printed & signed contract and a non-refundable retainer fee of £150 to secure my services for your wedding date. I accept bank transfer or cheque. No date can be saved without completed contract and deposit, with remaining balance needing to be paid 28 days before wedding date.

As presenting your memories is so important to me, it may take up to 4 weeks for me to carefully edit and present these images back to you. I make no apology for this as I dedicate time to each and every image, preparing and optimizing them one by one.

The first time you will see your images it will be on an online gallery, and after that the dvd, prints and album will be produced. Some albums can take up to 2 months to be hand-built and delivered.

In my experience couples often find it a chore to decipher the best image from a sequence or where indeed to start editing when looking at a large amount of images. I believe editing is one of the key reasons why many couples employ a professional photographer to capture their day. Good photographers have many years of experience in editing and telling a story with style and without repetition.

I openly encourage couples to have an input with editing, should there ever be an image you dislike, I want to know and I will make sure it does not get included in the album.

Yes, I am – I have public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

Yes –I own two Rhodesian Ridgebacks called Nala & Maya, I enjoy cycling and riding my restored classic motorbike. In the line of work I have documented the life of the nation, in the national news for 16 years, from the funeral of Princess Diana to the London bombings  ! I am 42 and my favorite musician is Ben Harper. My biggest coup was to get Dimitar Berbatov to sign a Man Utd shirt 3 days before Alex Ferguson! ( He may sit on the subs bench most of the time, but I refuse to be held responsible for that )

I would start with the bridal preparations (and those of the groom if preparations are to take place in close proximity) before proceeding to the marriage venue to record the build up to and the ceremony itself.

A short period after the ceremony we might take a small number of posed group shots to provide you with a clear, relaxed and high quality record of how your nearest and dearest looked when they came together to celebrate your union. I would then continue to document your wedding day as it proceeds through the various stages you have so carefully planned, including the reception, the wedding breakfast, the speeches and all the other intrinsic aspects of that special day as they occur at their natural pace.

I do not direct any part of ‘your’day for the purpose of  my photography.  To do so would result in a false documentation of your wedding day and the photographs would then become my perception of your wedding rather than a record of ‘your’ day and the way you meant it to be. For a short period around sunset I would hope to have some time with you for a small series of portraits when the days light is at its very best. I will then continue to document the celebrations as they continue into the night.

I do not do weddings to supplement my income, as I give each wedding 100% of my time and attention. In delivering truly professional results a finished set of wedding photos can take up to a week of my time. It is not just a matter a shooting it and then handing responsibility elsewhere. I personally oversea every stage form editing, colour correction and retouching, dvd design and album layout. I also personally inspect every finished album for quality before presenting to the client.
